EGA’s technology solutions
EGA’s Technology Development and Transfer department develops new technologies that further improve the aluminium smelting process; designs, builds and operates pilot reduction cells to test and validates our ideas; and supports the industrialisation of new technologies either at EGA or our technology customers’ smelters.
The team includes 50 dedicated technologists and experts assigned to perform different functions under Technology Development, Technology Transfer and Technology Excellence.
EGA’s Technology Development and Transfer department works closely with local and international universities to combine the latest scientific thinking with our decades of experience in aluminium smelting.
Our academic partnerships in the United Arab Emirates also enable us to contribute to the development of local academic institutions.
EGA’s current collaborations in the UAE include Khalifa University, Abu Dhabi University, UAE university, Heriot Watt University – Dubai, the American University of Sharjah, and Higher Colleges of Technology.
Internationally we have partnered with the University of Auckland, the University of New South Wales, and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
EGA hosts graduate students each year from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology’s David H. Koch School of Chemical Engineering Practice, a programme through which industrial chemists test their latest thinking at industrial sites on practical projects.
EGA is the first Middle East company to participate in the programme, which has a history stretching back over 100 years.
